Week 2

Through out this week, we were taught a couple lessons that have some major importance. We've performed a lot of experiments that proved that the lessons we were taught, such as how we shouldn't ask questions on something we cant test like how  fast the Buggy's go. We don't have a radar gun, so we cant bother asking how fast it goes. Team work is an obvious lesson in all classes, but in Team Physics, we really put the words "team work" to the test. Most if not all project we have done so far involved groups to come together and work, as apposed to haven't silent work time. I guess that most students understood all the lessons we were taught, because they were so well proven and explained that they do work. Another lesson we learned was that one of the best ways to show our data was through a graph. To show how fast the Buggy's went, we made a graph with distance (centimeters) on the Y Axis and time (seconds) on the X Axis. With the wood blocks, we used length on the Y Axis and mass on the X Axis. The only concept that I'm yet to grab is the whole technology thing. Twitter, Blogs, all of that is not stuff that i do on a regular basis, and its going to take some time to actually get use to going on Blogs and twitter everyday. I guess the concept behind that is that it makes life easier on students, but that's only if the student actually uses, or even knows, those websites and apps. Some students like myself cant stand any kind of online connection websites, besides maybe Facebook due to how simple it is. But again, I'm sure your trying to make life easier on people and whether students want to use the Internet or paper to do notes is 100% up to them and having that option is looking to be proven effective, for now. The concept behind reflecting on what we did that day does seem like a more efficient way of teaching and if all teachers used that method, i would imagine better over all learning for everyone. When i go home, i just block out anything school related. Most students just go home and relax until 11:00pm and go to bed, not giving a care about school. But being asked by the teacher to think about what you learned seems like, at least to me, more beneficial. When you reflect on what you were taught that day, you remember it. And when you remember it, it becomes useful. Now if a teacher gives me a piece of paper that asks me a question about why water is wet, that doesn't make me think about what i learned, it just makes me think about why water is wet, nothing more. That's why i feel reflection and remembering is alot more effective than just thinking about answers, and Dr. Abud was clear on why he wanted to start this way of learning. This is not all i learned, but it gives you an idea of how i learned what i learned and how effectively it was taught which is what i think you wanted to hear. If there is anything i didn't touch down on just let me know, but don't put it on twitter or something because i most likely wont have the capability of finding it (twitter-disability).

Week One Reflection

The first week of Physics was interesting. I learned a lot about how Sir teacher will be teaching and what concepts we will be learning, as well as learning everyone's name in the class. It seems that Sir teacher has his own way of teaching. As opposed to giving written homework, Sir teacher tells us to reflect on what we learned every day. There's a lot more technology in this class being used than all other classes combined.

Aside from basic classroom rules and restrictions, the class was shown that teamwork,  observation, and critical thinking is a necessity  to be successful in Sir teachers room. Not needed to be said but the class seems like its going to be a lot different than any other class. Right off the bat, i'm making a blog about the class. I don't do blogs, for anything. So there's a good example of how different this is.

Using Twitter, Instagram etc. are usually not allowed during class... Our homework, is to go on Twitter every night. I don't do Twitter either. What Wissam has learned from that? I learned that the concept this class is based upon may be crazy enough to work. In fact, it may end up being a much more efficient way of approaching school work than the traditional "white paper home work".
